Uber CEO Says He Wants To Bring Tesla Robotaxis Into Uber App

Source â Fortune
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi expressed a desire to collaborate with Tesla, rather than compete, as Tesla prepares to launch its own robotaxi service. Tesla said its autonomous taxi service, named Cybercab, is set to debut in a pilot in Texas this June.
He advocated for a partnership model with Tesla, highlighting that many Uber drivers already use Tesla vehicles and would be eager to integrate Teslaâs Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities with Uberâs platform.
Drawing a parallel to the relationship between McDonaldâs and Uber Eats, Khosrowshahi suggested that Tesla could benefit from integrating with Uberâs network to maximize vehicle utilization and revenue, ultimately increasing the value of Tesla cars.
Influential Investor Makes $2.3 Billion Bet on Uber

Bill Ackmanâs firm Pershing Square amassed a $2.3 billion stake in Uber, with Ackman saying the rideshare company is significantly undervalued. Ackman believes Uber is one of the âhighest quality businesses in the worldâ and shared his admiration for the companyâs evolution under CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.
Ackmanâs investment fund currently owns 30.3 million Uber shares, which translates to a 1.4% ownership stake, ranking him as the 12th-largest shareholder.
Since Khosrowshahi took the helm in 2017, Uber has evolved into a highly profitable, cash-generating machine, according to Ackman.
Ackman praised Uber as one of the finest managed corporations globally, noting its stock as being âavailable at a substantial discount to its intrinsic value.â
Despite Rising Costs and Inflation, DoorDash Continues To Grow

SOURCE â Bloomberg (Paywall free), WSJ
DoorDash reported significant growth in its food delivery operations last quarter, driven by strong restaurant partnerships and increased advertising revenue. The company not only posted its second quarterly profit since its IPO in 2020 but also projected optimistic growth for the coming quarter.
In the December quarter, DoorDash achieved a net income of $141 million, a notable turnaround from a $154 million loss in the same period last year, aligning with analystsâ expectations.
The total order value on the DoorDash app surged by 21% to $21.28 billion, surpassing analyst estimates, with revenue increasing by 25% to $2.87 billion, partly due to ad sales.
For the current quarter ending in March, DoorDash forecasts an order value between $22.6 billion and $23.0 billion, exceeding Wall Streetâs prediction of $22.4 billion.
Lyft Projects Slowdown Amid Competitive Challenges

SOURCE â The Wall Street Journal
Lyft reported a projected slowdown in first-quarter gross bookings due to pricing battles with Uber and other competitive pressures, resulting in a significant drop in stock value post-trading.
Lyft expects first-quarter gross bookings to range between $4.05 billion and $4.20 billion, falling short of Wall Streetâs expectation of $4.24 billion, as a result of price declines and fewer, shorter rides.
The company announced a 15% growth in gross bookings to $4.3 billion and a 10% increase in active riders to 24.7 million during the fourth quarter, beating analystsâ predictions in both sectors.
Despite its financial achievements, including a quarterly profit of $61.7 million and a $500 million stock buyback authorization, Lyft says it is facing challenges from ongoing competition in the rideshare market.
Uber Eats Launches Avride Delivery Bots in NYC Metro Area

SOURCE â TechCrunch
Uber Eats has collaborated with Avride to introduce autonomous sidewalk delivery robots in Jersey City, the first city on the East Coast to receive robot deliveries, marking another step in Uberâs expansion of automated delivery vehicles.
The rollout in Jersey City is part of Uberâs broader initiative to implement autonomous vehicles, partnering with Avride and other companies across 11 cities, with plans for further expansion.
Despite potential weather challenges, Avrideâs bots operate in moderate conditions and can travel up to five miles per hour with a range of 31 miles. The optimal delivery range is one to two miles, and they will initially cover one square mile in downtown Jersey City.
Besides collaborating with Uber Eats, Avride is extending partnerships, such as with Grubhub for bot deliveries on university campuses, and plans to deploy its first U.S. robotaxis in Dallas this year.
