No Tax On Tips? Not If You're a Gig Worker...
In this episode of The Rideshare Guy, Chris talks about the proposed No Tax on Tips Act that’s gaining traction.
The bill, as it stands, only applies to employees, not independent contractors, which means rideshare and delivery drivers like Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, and Uber Eats are currently excluded.
Since most drivers are independent contractors, this exclusion could leave millions out of what could be a big tax break—especially food delivery drivers who rely more heavily on tips than rideshare drivers.
But there’s still hope: companies like Uber and DoorDash are pressuring lawmakers to include gig workers. Chris encourages every gig worker to contact their local representatives and push for the bill to be expanded to include independent contractors.
