Nexar Dash Cams Review

Now you’re temporarily suspended from the app, losing income while the company investigates.
But there’s one thing that could help you turn it around fast: a dash camera.
It’s a simple, fairly cheap extra “insurance” that will help you out in case of an accident. As a rideshare and delivery driver, you’re on the road more than the Average Joe, and anything can happen inside and outside your vehicle. The scenario above was just one example.
Nexar has a line of dash cams that are perfect for every occasion, making sure you can capture those moments that will help you out in case of an accident, false claims from passengers, or other unforeseeable events that may occur.
Nexar Features and Benefits

Nexar dash cameras go above and beyond your “standard” dash cam. Their dash cams are AI-powered and made to keep a virtual eye on the road while you drive. You can choose from front and cabin-facing dash camera options.
They feature a memory card, a built-in SIM card, and an optional LTE plan with unlimited cloud storage. The SIM card works with multiple carriers, ensuring seamless coverage and connectivity.
Speaking of connectivity, Nexar dash cams come with connected features such as:
Automatic Incident Uploading
Remote Video Streaming (depending on the model)
Parking Mode
24/7 Support
Using these connected features will require an LTE connection and an additional charge.
With automatic incident uploading, incidents are automatically backed up to your cloud storage, and you are able to manually back up any video at any time.
With their remote streaming feature, you can check on your car from anywhere, giving you even more peace of mind. You can also set up parking mode, which will give you alerts if any events happen while your car is parked.
If that wasn’t enough, they also offer 24/7 customer support, a 30-day free trial, and a 1-year warranty.
Nexar Models
Nexar offers a variety of models to choose from, with varying video quality and storage capabilities to suit your needs.
Quick Overview
Nexar Beam2

The Nexar beam2 has outward and inward-facing cameras, so you can be fully covered as a rideshare driver. But, if you only want road-facing, you can choose that when purchasing for a lower price point. With 2k resolution and up to 256GB of storage, the Nexar beam2 is a great choice for rideshare drivers.
Nexar Beam2 Mini

The Nexar beam2 mini features up to 256GB storage, FHD 1080p video quality, and live GPS tracking. It’s a small, discreet dashcam that can fit behind your rearview mirror to keep your view clear. The Nexar beam2 mini has a smaller price point than the beam2, but it only films outside.
Nexar One

The Nexar One is touted as their most powerful dash cam. You’ll get a 140º view outside the front of your vehicle and 160º coverage inside. It features 4K resolution and can hold up to 256GB of footage. Not only will it detect an accident, but it will also notify your loved ones and stream video to your phone, the cloud, and your insurance company.
Nexar Beam

The Nexar beam is part of their classic collection. It is only road-facing, but it’s affordable at a $129.99 price point. The Nexar beam is considered their best-selling option with FHD 1080 resolution and up to 256GB of storage. However, it has limited connected features. Its parking mode is available when you’re in the car, and it does not have remote video streaming.
Nexar Pros and Cons
Pros
Overall, the video quality is pretty good, with resolutions ranging from 1080p up to 4K, depending on the dash cam. Motion and bump detection are pretty sensitive, which is a good thing because they will catch movement and record it as needed.
The size of the dash cams is pretty discreet, ranging from the size of a GoPro to the size of your rearview mirror, allowing you to tuck the camera out of your sight range but still be able to capture the views you expect.
They just launched a free “Basic Plan” that includes features you get from regular dash cams. Users who sign up now will get 90 days of free connected features.
Plus, the setup is simple and quick.
Cons
Since connected features like Automatic Incident upload to the unlimited cloud storage, live streaming and parking mode will require an LTE connection. With that, a monthly or yearly LTE fee will be added.
Customer support is only available online, which makes it more difficult to get answers quickly. There are instances where a live support person on the phone would make it easier to get resolutions to issues.
Connections while on the road may become spotty.
Final Thoughts
Nexar has a wide variety of dash cam options to suit any needs—from basic to more robust.
For rideshare drivers, I would highly recommend getting a camera that faces outward as well as inward to cover you in case you have unruly passengers.
Bear in mind that many states require you to let passengers know they are being recorded, so familiarize yourself with your local laws to make sure you’re complying properly. Having a cabin-facing camera can be comforting to passengers as well. It’s insurance for them to make sure their driver (you) is also keeping civil and not being creepy or potentially violent.
